Grounded is about to leave early access

The long-awaited bite-sized survival game Grounded is about to get its “biggest update” with the release of version 1.0. Announced to be leaving early access during this year’s Summer Games Fest, Obsidian has given the definitive word on Grounded’s actual release date: September 27, just in time for the game’s second-year anniversary since it went into early access. What’s more, we have a new trailer for it:

Grounded director Adam Brennecke stated that “The date for the 1.0 release is going to be September 27th. We're putting the final touches on everything. It's going to be our biggest update ever." Indeed, the trailer promises not just enormous biomes (where a puddle is the equivalent of a lake) but new armor, base defense mechanics, and enormous bosses to fight and defeat.

Brennecke added that version 1.0 will also feature a new pet gnat and a new building called the Cookery, where players can prepare an assortment of dishes fairly early in the game.

Reminiscent of the 1989 Hollywood hit Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Grounded puts you in the teeny-tiny shoes of a kid who has accidentally shrunk down to the size of an ant. Now you must attempt to survive in your own backyard, contending with flying insects, spiders, a koi pond filled with hungry fishes, and a host of other dangers in a now giant-sized world. You’ll have to build a base, gather resources, craft items, and progress through several story-based missions. You’ll be able to explore tons of biomes, such as the Crab Sandbox, the Black Ant Hill, and the Trash Heap. If you’d rather not play solo, you can do multiplayer with up to three friends.

Time to mark your calendars: Grounded is coming out later this September. If you’d like to pre-order this spectacularly big adventure, get a Grounded PC key from our comparator today.
