Halo Infinite launches Winter Contingency Event

Halo Infinite launches Winter Contingency Event

It’s the season to be jolly with the launch of Halo Infinite’s Winter Contingency Event. Following the fairly frosty reception of the previous event, Fracture: Tenrai, 343 Studios have opted to make some improvements. The Winter Contingency Event offers players a bundle of cosmetic items while lessening the stress of getting them. Check out the launch trailer now:

Fracture: Tenrai gained initial buzz for its Yoroi Armor Core, but players quickly found that getting the promised cosmetic items was far too much of a slog. Completing tiers required you to complete specific event challenges, but you only get a limited number of chances at those. Moreover, you mostly get XP unlocks and challenge swaps as rewards instead of cosmetic items. Finally, some Yoroi armor components can only be obtained from the Item Shop, not from actually playing the game.

Winter Contingency changes things up by being a smaller event while promising quicker progress through its ten tiers. To start gaining rewards, you need to win a single match of Arena or Team Battle on Halo multiplayer.

There are also more meaningful rewards per rank this time around: the Christmas-themed Peppermint Laughter armor set, new shoulder pieces, emblems, free nameplates, armor attachments, backdrops, and more. You can check out the items here:

Meanwhile, the Fracture: Tenrai event is slated to return next year, with improved progression, more cosmetics, and Item-Store-only rewards made winnable in-game.

The Winter Contingency Event will run from December 21 till January 4, 2022.
