Horizon Forbidden West announces Burning Shores DLC

During the recent The Game Awards, Sony took the chance to announce a DLC for one of the best games of the 2022: Horizon Forbidden West. Titled Burning Shores, the expansion will see Aloy returning to confront a new threat looming on the coastline of what was once Los Angeles. Burning Shores is set to release on April 19 of next year. Check out the announcement trailer here.

In the PS blog, Guerrilla Games describes Burning Shores as “an ambitious expansion which will take Aloy to the ruins of Los Angeles.”

“It’s an overgrown and fractured city that can be fully explored via the water and flying on the back of a Sunwing. A massive machine threat lurks in its shadows – a huge challenge that Aloy must overcome by using all of her skills and abilities.”

Sony’s description goes on to say that Aloy “will be traveling to a dangerous new region south of the Tenakth Clan Lands, featuring a compelling storyline following from where Horizon Forbidden West ended, new characters, adventures, and more...”

It’s not all good news for fans, though. While Horizon Forbidden West is already a known PlayStation exclusive, Burning Shores doubles down on this by being a PlayStation 5 exclusive. According to Guerrilla Games, “to achieve this grand vision technically and creatively, we’ve made the difficult decision to focus all our efforts on making an incredible experience exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.”

Horizon Forbidden West is one of the highest-rated games to release in 2022. It was nominated in seven categories in The Game Awards, including Game of the Year and Best Direction. Sadly, it failed to win in any of those categories, with God of War Ragnarok sweeping most of the awards.

Regardless, Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores looks great and it’s coming out next April year. If you’re lucky enough to have a PS5, be on the lookout for the best prices for a Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores PS5 key.
