Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered gets swift update following controversy

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was recently launched and, as expected, has received a mixed response from the player base. This enhanced version of the 2017 open-world game includes various improvements aimed at bringing it in line with Horizon Forbidden West, including changes to Aloy's appearance.

Since the announcement of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the game has been at the center of controversy, as there wasn’t significant demand for this "upgraded version." Many players quickly pointed out that it seems like an attempt by Sony to make a quick cash grab.

Following the release, fans voiced their disappointment with several aspects of the game, especially with the PC version. PC players were frustrated by the requirement of a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, a controversy that had previously affected Helldivers 2. Additionally, players reported graphical issues, audio problems, and various performance issues specific to the PC version, which led to negative reviews on Steam. Fortunately, Nixxes Software quickly addressed these concerns with a new hotfix for the game.

A new patch fix is coming to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

This latest update specifically targets issues affecting gameplay and stability. According to Nixxes Software, Hotfix 1.0.38.0 resolves a crash some players experienced after running the benchmark. Additionally, it addresses an issue where the Concentration skill required pressing the R3 button twice to activate or deactivate after the first use. The update also includes minor fixes, such as adjustments to the X- and Y-axis for both mouse and controller, improved aim toggle functionality, and overall game stability enhancements.

Despite these fixes, players remain dissatisfied with the PS5 version, claiming that certain issues persist. However, this update shows that Nixxes Software is actively listening to player feedback and working to improve the experience. So, whether Horizon Zero Dawn really needed a remaster is ultimately up to you to decide.
