Intel's new Arc graphics driver significantly improves performance on both Lunar Lake iGPUs and Arc GPUs across various games.

According to Intel, the company has just released a new version of its graphics driver that brings major performance improvements and supports many games. A highlight of this update is the addition of support for the new game No More Room in Hell 2, an online co-op horror FPS currently in early access.

In addition to supporting the new game, this driver also enhances gaming performance for several titles such as Core Keeper, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, and Assassin's Creed Mirage. On Arc A-series discrete GPUs, including the Alchemist A-series for desktops and laptops, performance in Core Keeper can increase by up to 11% at 1080p resolution and 13% at 1440p on Super High settings, compared to the previous driver version.

For integrated GPUs (iGPUs) in Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors like the Arc 140V and Arc 130V, some popular games also benefit. For example, Assassin's Creed Mirage (DirectX 12) sees up to a 24% performance increase at 1080p resolution with medium quality settings when Adaptive Quality is disabled.

This new driver version also fixes several technical issues, including those related to Intel Core Ultra Series 1 and Series 2 processors with integrated Arc GPUs, such as image distortion in the Chaos Enscape Benchmark 4.1 test or lower-than-expected performance in 3DMark Wildlife Extreme.

Although this update brings many improvements, some issues remain. For A-Series Arc graphics products, the game Doom Eternal (Vulkan) may experience intermittent flickering in menus or during gameplay. Graphics processing software like Blender may encounter errors when rendering certain test scenes. Additionally, AI-based applications such as DirectML can still experience high latency when processing the first token.

While Intel's new driver offers many performance improvements, some technical issues still need to be addressed. This suggests that Intel is still refining its Arc product line, especially when compared to strong competitors like NVIDIA and AMD. However, steady improvements through software updates are a positive sign for users, although the overall experience will still heavily depend on continued driver optimization in the future.
