THQ Nordic presented a Digital Showcase sharing the publisher's upcoming games. Among the news were Titan Quest II, Gothic Remake, Alone in the Dark, and the one in question, Last Train Home.
The Digital Showcase featured a batch of gameplay trailers of these games in a row, but now they are being released separately on Youtube for those interested in one game or another. Last Train Home's first gameplay trailer was recently revealed, showing what players can expect from this epic survival game.
The game thrusts players into the grim aftermath of the First World War. As a commander of the Czechoslovak Legion, you'll find yourself trapped in the chaos of civil war in the heart of Russia. Aboard an armored train, you must venture into the unforgiving landscape of Siberia and safely bring your men back home.
To accurately represent the period, the developer Ashborne Games partnered with the official Czechoslovak Legionary Community, which has ancestors of actual legionnaires among their ranks and operates the so-called "Legiovlak," a faithful replica of a legionary train from the period 1918-1920 complete with a locomotive, infantry car, workshop, kitchen, ambulance, artillery car and more. The team used the Legiovlak when recording to accurately depict the time when Czechoslovak war operations were taking place on the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia.
Last Train Home is an epic survival strategy game. The gameplay takes you through the steps required to reach your ultimate destination, Vladivostok:
"After announcing the game Last Train Home, we joyfully observed that players often find resemblances to prestigious brands such as Company of Heroes, Frostpunk, Commandos, and Xcom. These comparisons to gaming industry giants greatly delight us. Indeed, we draw from their successful concepts to some degree, yet we are making a unique Strategy / Management genre combination laid on an epic survival journey story. Through a gameplay trailer, we have decided to showcase this facet for the first time "in action" during the long-anticipated THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2023 event." – Dominik Jícha, Ashborne Games Marketing Manager.
The Last Train Home will initially release only for PC sometime in 2023. We don't know if it will come to other platforms, but we can certainly hope. If you're looking for a more serious and strategic game, check our comparator for the best deals on The Last Train Home and guarantee that the vehicle indeed reaches its destination.
