Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii shows its combat in a new video

The announcement of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has left the fans of the series a bit puzzled. It's not like they are not used to seeing surprises coming from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, but nobody expected that the next title in the Yakuza series would be a pirate-themed spin-off. However, the announcement has been received with joy and curiosity, even though we know very little about the upcoming game. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will bring back Goro Majima as a protagonist, leaving aside Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, who were the stars in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Goro is well-known to the fans of the series as he was the main character in some of its installments. Now, he retakes the main role again, although on this occasion he won't have any recollection of his past due to the events in the game. As a result, an amnesic Goro will find himself embarking on an epic story involving a legendary treasure, modern-day pirates, and scoundrels of all kinds.

The story promises to be exciting and fun but Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be a noteworthy addition to the series because of other reasons. Besides continuing to stay outside of Japan like its predecessor, the new Like a Dragon game will return to the old ways by featuring action-based combat that promises frantic battles. Exciting mini-games and other novelties have also been thrown into the mix for a unique experience.

A first look

SEGA has released a new video that offers a better look into what Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has to offer regarding combat.

Alongside this reveal, the fans of the series can also enjoy the announcement of the first TV series inspired by the franchise: Like a Dragon: Yakuza.

"This Japanese action drama plunges into the dark underworld of the yakuza, exploring the universal theme of family not only through bloodline but also through ties between yakuza bosses and their underlings, orphans and their caretakers, as well as mentors and students.”
