The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will launch between April and September 2023

Created to bring a different view of one of the most important characters from the world of The Lord of the Rings, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been delayed again by Nacon. In its most recent fiscal year, the company stated that the title is not expected to hit stores until the first half of the fiscal year, which begins this April.

In other words, the title may take until September this year to make its official debut. When it was announced by Daedelic Entertainment, the company stated that it would hit stores as early as the end of 2021 - a prediction that changed several times, most recently in July of last year.

At the time, the developer said it needed a few months of additional work to give it the polish that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum deserved. Since then, it has kept quiet about the game's development process and has not released any promotional material.

Based directly on the Lord of the Rings books, Daedelic's new game promises to be quite different from other adaptations of Tolkien's universe. Although he is strong for his size, Gollum is a creature unable to stand up to an orc and the other powers commanded by Sauron.

Thus, the game promises to offer an experience more focused on stealth, in which the protagonist will have to flee from his enemies rather than fight head-on. When confrontations prove unavoidable, he will have to sneak through the shadows to silently eliminate his targets.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is not the company's only news for fiscal 2023. The report also confirms its intention to release 20 titles by March 2024, including names like RoboCop: Rogue City, Gangs of Sherwood, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, and more.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum promises to begin shortly after the events of The Hobbit when Gollum leaves his lair and begins exploring the world in search of his precious One Ring. With a separate personality mechanic and several explorable areas, the game has promised versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
