Lovecraftian fishing game Dredge releasing this March

Last Friday, Black Salt Games and publisher Team 17 announced that their eldritch-style RPG, Dredge, is finally releasing on March 30. Dredge is a fishing game where you go out to sea on a fishing boat and try to make a profit from your daily catch. Unfortunately, that same ocean contains hideous alien marine creatures and other unnamed horrors. Fortunately, these monstrosities can earn you more money than ordinary fish, so it may be worth your while to catch them. On the other hand, they may catch you instead. Check out the Dredge release trailer here:

Fish for your life

Dredge places you in the boots of a sailor who has been shipwrecked in a strange and remote fishing village situated on an archipelago. The mayor loans you a boat and tells you that you must pay off your debt by catching fish for them. You can also perform side quests from the village’s many interesting residents, explore the archipelago, and discover lost treasure.

While things are normal at first, when night falls, the monsters start to appear. They can crawl onto your ship and corrupt your catch to make it useless. The larger ones will outright try to sink you instead. As your Panic meter rises, these monsters may come out of the darkness to surprise you. You can mitigate this by turning on your light, but this has the downside of making you visible to monsters. Put together, these mechanics can make Dredge a game that swings wildly between peace and paranoia.

Dredge will release on March 30, 2022, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. If you own a Switch, you will receive a free demo before release. Pre-order a Dredge PS5 key from our comparator today.
