Mass Effect keeps the speculation going with new teaser

Bioware has just celebrated N7 Day, both referring to November 7 and the military designation for the Mass Effect protagonists. Of course, fans quickly turned to the developers for clues as to the newest Mass Effect game, and Bioware didn’t disappoint. Instead of releasing a picture like last time, we now have 25 seconds of footage, with director Mike Gamble stating that “There are so many things for you to find in this.”

The video seems to be showing a mass relay marked MR7, which is implied to be the work of the group Cerberus based on the coloring. The ship coming in at the lower right might be the Normandy, given its cloaking technology, or possibly the Tempest from Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Accompanying text on the lower left side indicates the installation was being operated by Green Dagger Ltd., an existing corporation in Mass Effect lore that players have yet to encounter.

Finally, enterprising fans have been able to decipher a hidden message heard through the static—apparently, we are hearing Liara T’soni speaking with some Geth. Her words are: "The Council will be furious! Although, they should know by now not to underestimate human defiance!" Liara was last seen picking up a piece of Commander Shepherd’s armor during the first Mass Effect teaser shown at The Game Awards 2020.

Mike Gamble has since confirmed the message in a tweet.

We are going to have to wait a bit longer to confirm what all these clues might mean. The big questions are still unanswered: is Commander Shepherd still alive? Will the new Mass Effect game link Andromeda with the original storyline? Time will tell. In the meantime, you can keep a look out for prices for a Mass Effect PC key here. If you haven’t done so yet, you can also pick up the Mass Effect Trilogy to catch up with the story.
