Battletech, the tabletop game from FASA Corporation has been the inspiration of many games over the years, giving birth to both real-time strategy and shooting games. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries falls into the second category, and it follows a long tradition of games that allow you to experience first-person how it feels to pilot a giant robot armed to the teeth in tactical battles. Developed by Piranha Games, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a story-driven adventure that can be played cooperatively with up to three other friends. It follows the story of a rookie Mechwarrior who is the inheritor to a once-successful mercenary company as he tries to rebuild it from the ashes.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is set in 3015 during the final decade of the Third Succession War. As the leader of your own mercenary unit, you will not only have to risk your life in combat while piloting a massive BattleMech, but you will also be the one responsible for the destiny of your company. Common sense dictates that you should be very cautious in a scenario where the political machinations of the different factions in the Inner Sphere may cause your destruction, especially if you consider that most of them see your company as an expendable asset, but taking risks is your source of income, and you have a company to rebuild.
On the gameplay side, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is built based on MechWarrior Online's engine, and it includes over fifty different BattleMechs for you to pilot, modify and customize as you like. Keep in mind that you will be the one in control of the resources o your company so salvaging parts to repair and improve your BattleMechs will be a very good way of keeping them in shape. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries features an Instant Action system that allows you to take on missions outside of the campaign.
If you think that you have what's needed to become a successful mercenary commander in the tumultuous scenario of the Inner Sphere, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is your best chance to prove it, and it's already available.
