Monster Hunter: World is playable for free on PS4

The upcoming expansion, Iceborne, has been announced recently but Monster Hunter: World is in the news again. Indeed, we learned just a few days ago that Iceborne would be released on September 6 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in the course of next winter on PC. Now Capcom has announced a free trial period for Monster Hunter: World on PS4 so you can enjoy it for free until May 20th. It looks like Capcom wants to gather new players for the game before the release of the Iceborne expansion.

[PS4] Start your journey in #MHWorld today with a Free Trial for PlayStation 4, and carry over all of your progress to the full game!

Capcom, however, said that this version is only a trial version so it will be limited. You will enjoy the main adventure until the quest Sparks: Tobi-Kadachi. You'll also enjoy three-star missions, quests, equipment upgrades, and just about all the game content, excluding DLC. Also, during this trial, Hunter Rank 4 will be the maximum rank that you can achieve. You will also have the opportunity to play online, even with players who already have the game. As often happens with this type of free trial, if you decide to buy Monster Hunter: World later your progress will be saved, and you can resume the game where you left off. This gives you the opportunity to get a fairly good idea of what the game offers, right before the arrival of the upcoming Iceborne expansion. The developers have stated that Iceborne will be a gigantic expansion and that it will "compete with the original content". Among other novelties, we will find a new region called Hoarfrost Reach, with all the new monsters that live there, and new hunting mechanics which will let us discover new gameplay aspects.
