NetherRealm Studios confirmed a new playable character for Mortal Kombat 11 in the person of Kitana. Kitana made her Mortal Kombat debut in its second installment back in 1993 and players fawn over her steel fans. She died but was then revived by the end of 2011’s Mortal Kombat as a Revenant and one of Quan Chi’s minions in Mortal Kombat X. In this installment, Kitana is now the co-ruler of the Netherealm with Liu Kang. The minute-long trailer shows a cinematic battle between Kitana, the fan-wielding princess, and Scorpion. The TV spot is visually stunning and choreographed well and the transition from live actors to characters is impressively executed. The trailer explains that we are all warriors who are ready to stand and fight for the things we believe in when the right time comes. May it be justice, power, glory, or vengeance – we will fight no matter what. It then ends with Shao Kahn sitting in his throne.
The Tv spot doesn´t include any actual gameplay from the returning character so we can expect a proper trailer on Kitana’s skills later this week. This addition isn’t much of a surprise since we’ve already seen the princess of Edenia in Mortal Kombat 11’s story mode footages but she was only in the cut-scenes. Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios are getting ready for the launch of Mortal Kombat 11. This is evident if you consider the fast pace in which they are unveiling the remaining playable characters. Not long ago, they revealed two original newcomers – Shao Kahn’s right-hand man only known as The Kollector, and Elder God Cetrion, and now, we have the returning character, Kitana. Mortal Kombat 11 is coming on April 23rd, 2019 on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
