Motion Twin shows Windblown gameplay

The name Motion Twin may not ring a bell for you, but if we tell you that they are the creators of Dead Cells a smile of acknowledgement will surely appear on your face. The iconic roguelike Metroidvania has been a favourite of the fans for many years and it still offers one of the best experiences in the genre thanks. The studio has managed to keep it fresh all this time by releasing several expansions that added new biomes, weapons, enemies and more, including Fatal Falls, The Queen and the Sea, and The Bad Seed. Although the studio seems now finished with releasing additional content for Dead Cells, they are working on a new Metroidvania adventure called Windblown.

Challenge the Vortex

In Windblown, you have to protect your small village from the attack of a horde of dreadful enemies coming from the Vortex. The game is set in a myriad of floating islands that orbit around the Vortex and offers a challenging Metroidvania experience. As you explore the different islands that surround your village while trying to survive the brutal onslaught of a legion of creatures of all kinds, you will progressively unlock new weapons and powers that will help you progress in this adventure. Fast-paced action, plenty of secrets to discover, and deadly bosses await you in this epic adventure. You can take a first peek at Windblown in the latest gameplay video released by Motion Twin.

With Windblown, the studio has put to the best use all of its experience with Dead Cells to create a brand new adventure that aims to be as engaging and exciting as its previous work. However, Windblown is different from Dead Cells in many aspects. The game features a brand new art style and is played from a different perspective that will be more challenging for those used to 2D metroidvanias. The 3D scenarios alongside the possibility of sharing the adventure with up to two other players opens a world of gameplay possibilities, especially when combined with roguelite mechanics that boost the replayability of the game.

Windblown will surely be a hit among the fans of Metroidvania games, but it could not be the only game that Motion Twin is developing right now. Rumour has it that the studio is working on a new Prince of Persia, which is something rather strange considering the success of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and that Ubisoft owns the franchise. Nothing has been confirmed on this matter yet.

Windblown will be released in Early Access sometime this year, and the best source of cheap Windblown Steam codes ahead of its release will be our comparator if you don't want to miss it.
