New EA App launched, will replace Origin

Announced two years ago, the EA App was designed to upgrade the Origin launcher and DRM for PC. As of today, the EA app is ready to go, and will replace Origin in the coming days. You may download it at the EA homepage.

According to their homepage, 

"The EA app is our fastest and lightest PC client to date. With the new streamlined design you will easily find the games and content you’re looking for and discover your new favorite games. With automatic game downloads and background updates you can ensure that your games are ready to play when you are."

How to install and use the EA App:

  1. Download the EAA app and run the installer
  2. Click the Let's go button for a quick install or Customize Setup to change the details. Wait for the download to finish.
  3. Log in to your EA account. If you don't have one yet, click Create account and follow the instructions.EA login screen
  4. Once you have logged into the app, you will see menu items for browsing games and finding friends. 
  5. To look at your games, click on the My Collection link. Any games you already own will be automatically transferred to the EA App.

How to install games using CD keys:

  1. Click on the My Collection link.
  2. On the upper right corner, click on the Redeem Code button.Redeem code link
  3. Enter your game cd key in the provided text box.redeem code input box
  4. Follow the instructions to install the game. 

Once installed, you can play the game from the My Collection menu.

Notably, the upcoming Dead Space remake is native to Steam and won’t require the EA App to launch. Meanwhile, Origin will remain active until it is fully replaced.
