Despite the lack of news these past few years, Silent Hill remains a legendary series among horror fans, and many are eager to see its return. So when a slew of news regarding Silent Hill concept art was leaked online, and subsequently taken down by a DMCA strike, it set the fanbase abuzz with excitement.
The first bit of news comes from AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, who is well-known for sharing accurate information on games such as Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise prior to their release. This time, they tweeted four images they claim are for a new Silent Hill game.
"I will also mention the names 'Anita and Maya', 'SMS Messages', and this is not the only Silent game in development. I know many will doubt this, but I have a lot of private proof to show this is real, & as always, I continue to wait on the Silent Hill game reveal."
Hours later, a DMCA strike led to the tweet being taken down. The franchise holder, Konami, reportedly gave the order. Along with the news that Konami had renewed the IP earlier this year, we have an excellent case for a new Silent Hill game in the works.
The last Silent Hill game was ten years ago: 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour. After that, there was only the terrifying P.T., a playable teaser for a game to be made by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Torre, but which never came to fruition. Since then, Konami has moved into the pachinko business and left the IP dormant.
If a game is in the works, it will likely be developed by the Bloober Team, makers of Layers of Fear and The Medium, whom Konami announced a partnership with last year.
Hopefully, Konami will soon make an official announcement on the game. We'll keep you all posted as more news arrives. In the meantime, Silent Hill Homecoming is available for purchase, or to whet your appetite for horror, you can get a Resident Evil Village PS5 code as well.
