No Man’s Sky adds a music creator to its features

Hello Games has made an incredible work with No Man's Sky so far and it seems that it intends to keep improving their game and surprising us. Each of the big updates that they have released for their space exploration open-world game has added very interesting features to the game. No Man's Sky started as a single-player adventure where pretty much all you could do is explore a vast universe, but subsequent updates have added a survival mode, the possibility of constructing your own base, and a myriad of gameplay options and changes. The most significant of those additions is the one that allows players to join multiplayer games, sharing the world with up to 32 other players and turning the game experience into something completely different and much more similar to an MMORPG.

Now, Hello Games surprises us once again adding a feature that you rarely see in any video game and that expands the already huge number of customization options that No Man's Sky has. Update 2.24 brings to the game a full audio creation application that comes in the form of the ByteBeat Device. It is a machine that you can build in the game and which allows you to create your own music and sounds for the game.

It doesn't matter if you are no musician or an expert creator, the ByteBeat Device is quite accessible to everyone, no matter what your previous knowledge is. Of course, the more you know the more things you can do with it, and the best part is that you can share your creations with other players too!

Once placed in your base and powered, the ByteBeat will immediately begin to produce sound. ByteBeat formulas are made out of simple waveforms that are manipulated through maths – but by default, the device handles all of the mathematical heavy lifting, procedurally generating random presets for you to play with. Dedicated audiophiles have the option to explore deeper, manually sketching out note sequences, rhythms, and even manipulating the raw sounds.

ByteBeat Device update for No Man's Sky is already available to all players on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
