You don't need to be a genius to realize that Pathologic 2 is not an AAA title, but despite its limitations on some areas this narrative thriller developed by Ice-Pick Lodge offers much more than your average adventure game. The weird setting of the game is unique and it's full of interesting concepts that could have a lot of potential making it a game that you will never forget once you have played it. As a reimagining of the cult-favorite game form 2005 Pathologic, this game will put us in the shoes of a doctor known as Haruspex returns to his native town as a request of his father, but as he arrives at the place, three locals try to kill him for unknown reasons and he will discover that the place is afflicted by a deadly plague.
The main story in Pathologic 2 takes place over the course of twelve days. During that time, you will have to do your best to survive, managing your bodily functions and finding resources. But doing it alone is going to be really hard, so it would be in your best interest if you manage to make some friends.
Pathologic 2 originally is supposed to have three episodes, and the story of Haruspex should be the first one, but nothing has been revealed about the following ones. The only thing we know so far is that the main character will be different in each of them. With two more episodes in the air, it's rather surprising that Ice-Pick Lodge has announced a DLC for the game.
Pathologic 2: The Marble Nest DLC is a spin-off story in which we will play as Dr. Daniil Dankovsky, another doctor that is also trying to save the plague-ridden town alongside the Haruspex. Over the course of a single day, he will offer us a different perspective of the situation and of death itself.
Even if it's going to be free for those that own the main game when the DLC is released next week, we can't stop wondering if it wouldn't be better to put the time and resources spent into creating the DLC into the next Pathologic 2 episode.
