Persona 5 Tactica releases Japanese trailer with more gameplay details

Atlus has released a new Japanese trailer for Persona 5 Tactica, sharing numerous fresh details about the upcoming tactical RPG. The game features all the main characters from the original Persona 5 and the newcomer Erina.

Regarding the new gameplay information, Atlus confirmed that Persona 5 Tactica will feature challenges during missions that, if completed, will grant more rewards to the player, with a Replay feature in case you can't meet them all. Among the rewards is the GP, a resource that unlocks abilities in a character tree. All this carries over to the New Game+, along with the Persona compendium, unlocked fusions, money, and weapons.

The maps of each mission present a unique terrain that favors the members, such as an elevator that can take you to the high ground. As Persona 5 Tactica has gameplay similar to XCOM: Enemy Within and Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope, veterans know that positioning, cover, and line-of-sight have a significant impact on how their battles play out.

The narrative of Persona 5 Tactica tells how, after a strange incident, the Phantom Thieves wander into a bizarre realm where its citizens live under tyrannical oppression. Surrounded by a military group named Legionnaires, they find themselves in grave danger until a mysterious revolutionary named Erina rescues them and offers an enticing deal in exchange for their help.

Although Persona 5 Royal is an extended version with an additional storyline, Atlus says they are not following that canon. Similar to Persona 5 Strikers, the upcoming Persona 5 Tactica will follow the plot of the original Persona 5. Because of this, Kasumi will only appear as DLC rather than a main character, as will Akechi.

Atlus is promising a lot with its RPGs in 2023 and next year. We have the Persona 3 Reload remake and the new IPs in Unicorn Overlord and Metaphor: ReFantazio. Those familiar with the developer's quality know it's a treat for fans of the genre.

Persona 5 Tactica will be released on November 17 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC. You can check out our comparator for the cheapest deals on Persona 5 Tactica and uncover the latest adventure of the Phantom Thieves.
