Phoenix Point is available on GOG and Steam now

It's been a whole year already since Phoenix Point was released on PC via Epic Games Store. the release of the game was surrounded by drama because the developers had promised to launch the game on Steam. The game ended as an EGS exclusive and plenty of backers took it to social media to complain about it, generating quite a bit of controversy. After an official apology from the studio, Phoenix Point had a successful launch as a true successor of the old XCOM games, which were also created by Julian Gollop. The game has attracted a lot of followers but it seemed to be in quite an unfinished state in the beginning. Now, a year later and with a few content DLC and a lot of patches on its back, Phoenix Point is a great game that brings quite a few novelties to the turn-based tactics genre.

Phoenix Point is another strategy game about fighting aliens that have invaded the world, but you wouldn't expect any less in this case. Phoenix Point features a brand new and original aiming system that lets you aim manually and calculates the trajectory of your shots individually to find out if they hit your target or any kind of cover that is protecting it. It's much more rewarding than just watching a "to hit" percentage that doesn't mean much at the end of the day. After all, missing your shots with a 100% chance to hit is one of the most common complaints from XCOM players, and Phoenix Point has moved away from that problem with a clever and innovative solution.

If you are one of those that have been patiently waiting for a year to play Phoenix Point on your platform of choice, the game is currently available on GOG and Steam. The Phoenix Point Year One Edition that you can find on both shops includes all the improvements made to the game over the last year as well as its two first expansions, Blood and Steel and Legacy of the Ancients.
