Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are shown in a new trailer

The fans of the popular Pokémon license have been waiting for this day with anticipation for a good reason. The Pokemon Company announced that a new trailer for the next generation would be released this Wednesday at 3 pm. For those of you just tuning in, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be the names of the 9th generation installment in the series, due out later this year. However, apart from the basics and a vague glimpse of a region, we didn't know much about them until now.

Fortunately, this trailer has allowed us to learn a little more about both versions. The first important thing to note is that there will be not one but two teachers. For the Scarlet version, it will be Professor Sada, and for Violet, it will be Professor Turum. The two researchers have very different styles. While Sada is dressed in flint-like clothing, Turum is dressed in a very modern or futuristic style. The third important character revealed in the trailer is our rival, Nemona. She is described as a radiant young girl who is very talented in Pokémon battles, and she will serve as our guide during the adventure.

Regarding the Pokémon themselves, three creatures that can certainly be found at the beginning of the adventure were shown. Pohm looks like the Pikachu-like pokémon of this generation and is also electric. Olivini is the classic plant-type pokémon from the beginning of the game, and finally, Gourmelet, a normal-type pig, was also presented. The trailer ended with a visual of the two legendary Pokémon, Koraidon for Scarlet and Miraidon for Violet. Like the teachers, they embody a particular style, the former referring to the past and the latter to the future. These two notions will undoubtedly be very important in this generation.

These new games will include a brand new feature, allowing you to explore the map with up to four players at a time. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have been announced as open-world games that can accommodate multiplayer on the map itself. Not much information additional information has been revealed about how exactly the multiplayer will work, so we'll have to wait for the next trailer to find out more.

In the meantime, if you are thirsty for Pokémon, you can find Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield or Pokémon Legends: Arceus on our comparator before you move to the new generation.
