Rainbow Six Siege takes you back in time to the Old West

Limited time events seem to be becoming usual in all kinds of shooting games nowadays, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is not going to be any less. Ubisoft has launched a special event that will let two teams of three operators fight to their heart's content against the opposing team over the control of a location. You would think that there is nothing new about that, but when you watch the following introductory video for the event, you might be up for a surprise.

Yeah, we are not talking about Red Dead Redemption 2 here, although it definitely looks like it if you decide to ignore some little details like the hand grenade. Say bye to the high-tech weaponry and gadgets you are used to and be ready to get your hands dirty in a western-style shootout with the Showdown limited time event for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. In this reimagination of the Secure Area mode, two teams fo three players will fight over the control of Fort Truth. Attackers and defenders will compete in rounds of 90 seconds to secure a stash of gold and get rid of the opposing team. To make it more real, weapons usage will be limited to two-shot shotguns and a six-shot revolver secondary (BOSG.12.2 and Magnum LFP586). Gadgets won´t be allowed but for the sake of more strategic gameplay, the attacking team will be able to use smoke and frag grenades and the defenders can use barb wire to set up traps.

Also, a wide range of Old West-themed cosmetics are available for the players through Showdown Packs that you can buy for 300 R6 credits each with no duplicates. You will get one of those packs for free if you log in during the event and there is also a unique weapon skin for the BOSG.12.2 and another pack waiting for the players that manage to complete Ubisoft Club Event challenges. The roster of playable characters in the event is also limited, and it only includes Ash, Maverick, Capitao, Glaz, Twitch, Caveira, Maestro, Rook, Kaid, and Alibi. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege: Showdown Event will be running until July 16th, and it's available to all players on PC and consoles.
