Red Dead Online will be a standalone game

Following its tradition of releasing awesome games, Rockstar Games met great success with Red Dead Redemption 2, making it one of the most popular action-adventure games. With an unprecedented level of detail, the game allows us to immerse in a wild adventure that takes place in the Wild West and that infused new life into the genre. Months after it was released, the addition of a multiplayer mode called Red Dead Online which allowed players to adventure in an open world in which they can do almost anything they want, contributed to making the game even bigger. As your actions in the campaign do not have an effect on your Red Dead Online game, it has always been considered as an independent game by the players, but you had to buy Red Dead Redemption 2 in order to be able to play it.

It's been a while since players started exploring the universe of Red Dead Online, and quite a lot of additional content has been added to the game through several free updates, including limited-time events, customization options, and more. But it seems that Rockstar Games wants to attract even more players to their game, and they have decided to release a new version of Red Dead Online that won't require you to have the base game to access it.

Red Dead Online will be available as a standalone game on December 1 on several platforms, including Steam, Epic Games Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Microsoft Store, and PlayStation Store. You can even play it on next-gen consoles too thanks to backward compatibility and its price will have a 75% off discount for a limited time after release. It will also be possible to unlock the Red Dead Redemption 2 campaign later on, but you will need to pay an extra, of course.
