A remake of Diablo 2 could be in the works

The name Vicarious Visions may not ring a bell for many of you but if we talk about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 maybe things start to come into place. The studio behind the recent remake of the first two Tony Hawk's original games is also responsible for other relevant games, including the superb Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and they have also worked on some other big franchises like Call of Duty, Destiny, Skylanders, and more. It seems that the huge popularity of Blizzard games has swallowed them down and now they are going to be supporting them on new projects.

According to a statement from Activision Blizzard to GamesIndustry.biz, Vicarious Visions will stop working on any other projects they may have had to help Blizzard.

"After collaborating with Vicarious Visions for some time and developing a great relationship, Blizzard realized there was an opportunity for [Vicarious Visions] to provide long-term support."

The real question is: what game are they working on? Well, some reports say that they would be developing the eagerly awaited remake of Diablo 2. Even though Diablo 4 is already in the works, the second installment in the series is considered to be the most popular and there are plenty of fans that would love to play a modernized version of it. If we take into account Vicarious Visions' wide experience in creating awesome remakes, the idea of the studio working on the Diablo 2 remake would really make sense.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, and since Blizzard is well known for keeping some of their games in secret until they are ready for revealing it's quite likely that we won't know much until then. But BlizzCon is around the corner, and even though this year's event is going to be online, we are bound to see some updates about games like Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4, and maybe some we will get more news on Diablo 2 remake.
