Resident Evil 4 gets great scores ahead of the release

As all the fans know, Resident Evil is quite a long-lived series that has evolved a lot over the years. Capcom has found the key to creating a thrilling universe that has expanded across many games but has also learned to improve Resident Evil and adapt the series to the passing of time. Each of the Resident Evil remakes released to date has been a success that enhanced the original experience. The Resident Evil 4 Remake is certainly challenging for the developer, as it's probably the most controversial game in the whole series due to its gameplay style. Still, it seems that it has passed the exam with very good grades.

More than an enhanced experience

The first batch of Resident Evil 4 Remake reviews have been published this weekend, and all of them agree on one thing:  Capcom has nailed it with this remake. Despite the pressure to meet the standards set by previous remakes, the new Resident Evil 4 Remake shines thanks to relatively minor gameplay changes that have a huge impact. You can crouch and stealth to avoid enemies and even finish them without making any noise. Not only can you use the new bolt thrower to skewer them but also kill your foes with your knife. This weapon gains relevance in Resident Evil 4 Remake because you can also use it to deflect enemy attacks. Just make sure not to break it due to excessive usage. Those additions are just the tip of the iceberg in a batch of changes contributing to deliver a much better gameplay experience.

Resident Evil 4 Remake goes beyond adding some new gameplay mechanics. It also features new bits of content, including new enemies. If you are a fan of the original game, you will be surprised by how much more immersive the remake is. Of course, the outstanding new graphics help a lot with that, but that was something to be expected after playing the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which looked impressive already.

Overall, Resident Evil 4 Remake has all the elements needed to be more than a filler after the success of Resident Evil Village, and it will claim the stage on its own merits. The release of the game is scheduled for next Friday on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
