When it was first revealed, the concept of Rocket League raised more than a few eyebrows. More than six years after the game's release, we still wonder where Psyonix got the idea of a hybrid game between football and motorsports. Because that's exactly what Rocket League offers, making you take part in a kind of football match but behind the wheel of a car. Thanks to its frantic gameplay and competitive dimension, the game has gathered a considerable player base, also influenced by its change to a free-to-play model in 2020.
Rocket League is offering new content to players. Alongside the launch of Season 4, which starts today, Playstation players will be able to enjoy free Ratchet and Clank-themed content. Also, PS5 players are finally getting a version optimized specifically for the next-generation console. New video settings are now available in the dedicated menu with the following options:
Quality:
- 4K checkerboard resolution at 60 IPS with HDR.
- HDR requires an HDR10 compatible display and an HDMI 2.0 or better cable.
- A display supporting 4K is required to have 4K. If a 1080p display is used, the game will render at 1080p upscaled from 4K.
Performance:
- The game runs at a resolution of 2688x1512 (70% of full 4K) at 120 IPS with HDR.
- The game's UI runs at 4K with checkerboard rendering.
- A 4K capable display is required to have 4K Ultra HD. If a 1080p display is used, the game will render at 1080p oversampled to 2688x1512.
- HDR and 120 IPS require a compatible display, as well as an ultra high speed HDMI 2.1 cable.
As for the free content for Rocket League Playstation players, the Ratchet and Clank-themed pack adds a few items, including a sticker for Octane, Ratchet and Clank Balloon accessories, and the Turbo Negatron Collider. This goodie pack is available to all players, who can obtain it simply by logging into the game.
