Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II looks legendary in new gameplay trailer

Ninja Theory’s Norse-inspired action drama Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II now has a release window. During the Xbox Summer Showcase, Microsoft shared that we’ll see the next chapter of Senua’s adventures sometime in 2024. Check out the trailer now—Ninja Theory have outdone themselves with the game’s graphics and sound design, so it’s highly recommended you wear earphones for the full experience.

Land of ice and snow

Once again, Senua’s psychosis plays a role in Hellblade II in the form of voices in her head that both help and hinder her on her quest. What’s interesting is that in the previous game, Senua’s journey into the underworld and her confrontation with Hela could have been all in her head. In Hellblade II, however, she is seen fighting giants at the head of an army. Not only is the second game grander in scale, but the line between myth and reality also seems even more blurred this time around.

There have been three official trailers plus a dev diary video so far of Hellblade II, but we still have no idea what the story is about. All we have so far is that it occurs in Iceland, human sacrifice is involved, and Senua leads a group of warriors in an effort to slay mythical beings and “forge new stories to strike the gods that haunt us.” Apparently, she has taken on the role of a wise woman for these people, and is even called a witch by the entity in the trailer. We hope to learn more about exactly what is going on once a firm release date is announced.
