Shadow of the Erdtree will be as difficult as Elden Ring

The upcoming release of the first and only expansion for Elden Ring has all the fans of FromSoftware looking forward to it with anticipation. Not only does Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree promise a new region to explore and new bosses to fight against, but it also will be the perfect excuse to return to one of the best and most popular video games ever released.  The Japanese studio created a masterpiece that has provided its fans with countless hours of gameplay as they explored the Lands Between. Of course, these also translated into a ridiculously high number of deaths, as Elden Ring boasts an impressive and sometimes even discouraging level of difficulty. This is something well known to the fans of FromSoftware's games as it's something shared by all the titles in the Dark Souls series. However, the high difficulty is also one of the most interesting aspects of the game and it forces players to push their limits in order to succeed.

As hard as ever

If you were expecting the developer studio to tune down difficulty a notch for Shadow of the Erdtree you may better look for something else to play when the expansion is released. FromSoftware has confirmed that the new enemies that you will have to face while traversing the Lands of Shadow will be as challenging as the ones already present in Elden Ring, if not more. Of course, you will have access to new weapons that may give you an edge against some of them, but you shouldn't be expecting any easy fights. FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed in a recent interview that the difficulty level of Shadow of the Erdtree will be on par with Elden Ring's second half. Therefore, you should have some experience with adventuring in the Lands Between before you explore the new content.

Previous knowledge of the game seems quite a fair requirement, and we are sure that those who have already played Elden Ring will be more than happy to dust off their weapons and warm up a bit before heading into the Lands of Shadow. After all, you never know what kind of devious monster capable of cutting you in half with a single strike will be waiting for you.
