Sifu is coming for revenge in 2022

After proving their video game martial arts expertise with Absolver, indie studio SloClap is kicking things up a notch with Sifu, a slick kung fu brawler with roguelike elements and unprecedented fighting mechanics. Whereas Absolver focused on multiplayer, Sifu is a third-person single-player fighting game that draws inspiration from martial arts movies like Jacky Chan films and The Raid. It has a very appropriate title considering that the word Sifu is Chinese for “teacher” or “master.”

All About Ass-kicking Revenge

Sifu follows the tale of a young martial artist seeking to avenge the murder of his family. His journey will bring him through the city streets, nightclubs, and the halls of towering skyscrapers. You’ll face an army of gangsters and bodyguards in grueling and fast-paced hand-to-hand combat, and they’re not going to come at you one at a time.

Winning isn’t just about being fast and knowing your combos; it’s also about situational awareness. Just like in games like Arkham City and Arkham Knight, you need to know where your enemies are and how they’re going to come at you. You also need to use your environment to your advantage. The fighting mechanics in the game alow you to kick chairs into an enemy’s path, slam their heads into nearby ledges, kick them down a flight of stairs, or throw them through glass barriers. You also unlock new skills to help you take on the mob of foes you’ll be facing.

Yet another unique mechanic is that you carry a magical pendant that keeps you from permanently dying. Instead, when defeated, get visibly older when you start a new run. The trade-off is that you also unlock new abilities to reflect the wisdom you attained.
