Developer Sloclap has released details for the summer update of their spectacular kung-fu action game Sifu. The update is slated to arrive on Wednesday, August 31. Have a peek at the trailer here:
There’s quite a bit to unpack here. Top of the list is the game getting a scoring system, which will be useful to players looking for a numerical measure of their skill, or just want to plain brag about it. Per the description, “the new scoring system will take into account every punch, kick, sweep and finisher performed, doling out a ranking based on a player’s smoothness, efficiency and variety.” In particular, taking out an entire room of enemies without sustaining damage entitles you to a score worth talking about.
The next new items are the outfits, and this will give martial arts film fans cause to rejoice. The first is the Enforcer suit, which gives the player a tactical suit that’s straight out of the Indonesian action movie The Raid Redemption. The second outfit is the Master Hand, composed of a trench coat and a stylish white fedora hat. Again, this is an homage to the kung fu film The Grandmaster by Wong Kar-wai. As a nice touch, you can make a challenge out of preventing enemies from knocking off your hat.
Finally, Sifu introduces modifiers, which can greatly increase or reduce the difficulty of the game. If you are having a hard time, you can include modifiers that give you infinite health, unbreakable structure, or indestructible weapons. For those seeking more pain, you can increase enemy strength, prevent yourself from using weapons, or reduce your health to a single point.
The Sifu Summer update is just a few days away. Pick up a Sifu PC key from our comparator ahead of the launch.
