S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was announced so long ago that most of you have probably lost track of it unless you are avid S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl fans. The shooter developed by GSC GameWorld was originally announced more than 10 years ago and since then we have not known much about it, but it seems that the studio has managed to get some work finished, and we can now watch the first gameplay teaser of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
Even though it's just a short teaser that doesn't let us discover much about combat or anything in the game, the footage revealed is more than enough to put S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in the spotlight again. The protagonist of the game is going to be a guy named Skif, and it seems that he is going to have a hard time surviving in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. If you played the first installment in the series, you probably recognize the PDA that managed most of the features in previous games. You should also know that there's been a couple of "accidents" in the area that have turned it into a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of mutant creatures and radioactive hazards. Therefore, you can expect to find all kinds of nasty surprises when exploring the different locations in the game.
The publication of the teaser serves as a reminder of the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 which should be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S at some point this year. No release date has been confirmed so far, but we expect to have more news about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in the following months. There are lots of things to discover about the game yet, and even though the video lets us have a glimpse of what's to come, it does leave out very important things about the game, including combat.
