Ubisoft isn't exactly going through its best moments right now. The release of Star Wars Outlaws last summer didn't meet the expectations it generated and it was the latest in a long list of failures that culminated in the unexpected postponement of Assassin's Creed Shadows. However, the French developer is quite stubborn and doesn't want to abandon its new franchise, and it will continue working on Star Wars Outaws. The arrival of a new creative director aims to be the impactful change the studio needs to make amends and improve the experience currently offered by the game.
The former creative director of The Division Drew Rechner is now in charge of the project and will try to turn Star Wars Outlaws into a game more players are eager to buy.
"I'm very excited to be stepping into the role of creative director on Star Wars Outlaws and to be working with the incredibly passionate team here at Massive Entertainment along with our talented co-development studios around the world and Lucasfilm Games. I would like to personally thank you, our community, for your positive response to the game. We see and love all the fan arts, comments, and videos you've created around the game, and it continues to provide joy and inspiration to the team. We truly hope you're enjoying your journey across the Outer Rim with Kay and Nix thus far."
Even though the experience offered by Star Wars Outlaws is not especially bad, the game has not quite convinced the fans of Star Wars, which has always been the main target of the project. A new character, a new scenario, and an untold story are always hard to fit in a universe whose foundations have been set in stone for many years. However, there is enough room to squeeze in novelties, and Ubisoft does not want Star Wars Outlaws to become a missed opportunity. Therefore, the game will receive significant improvements in three main areas according to the new director: Stealth, combat, and controls.
Only time will tell if those improvements are enough or not to take Star Wars Outlaws to a better position. CD Projekt Red already demonstrated that it's possible to turn the tides and transform a failed game into a big success with enough time and effort. Now, Ubisoft has to do something similar and make Star Wars Outlaws more appealing to the masses. Of course, we will keep you updated about the upcoming changes and their results in the future, and our comparator will continue to offer you the best prices to purchase Star Wars Outlaws for your platform of choice.
