According to some reports, Bethesda’s hotly awaited RPG Starfield is “playable from start to finish,” but until now, no release date has been set.
According to Windows Central, a tip from an unnamed but dependable source said that Starfield is playable in full, and the development team has now moved on to polishing and fixing any bugs that inevitably appear during playtesting. This is why no firm release date has been announced.
Based on descriptions and gameplay reveals, Starfield is indeed an enormous game, with players having the ability to visit over 1,000 planets. The game will also feature 250,000 lines of dialogue, completely dwarfing Skyrim and Fallout 4 combined. Interestingly, developers have stated that Starfield won’t have a seamless transition from space to landing on a planet, indicating some kind of loading sequence for a new area. Regardless, the scale of the game does mean that it needs plenty of playtesting to catch game-breaking bugs, so it’s understandable that Bethesda is reluctant to put out a release date right now.
Starfield is the latest game from Bethesda and its first new IP in more than 20 years, which generated a lot of buzz for the studio since it was announced in 2018. It was first slated for a November 2022 release, but that has long passed us by and the game has been pushed back to the first half of 2023. However, no word since has been given as to when Starfield will finally release. Our only clue thus far is from Bethesda’s Latin American Instagram, which replied to the fan’s question that the announcement will come “very soon,” during a “special game event.” This does tie in with the rumor that the game is largely complete.
