The Souls-like genre has recently become popular due to the success of Elden Ring. With a large fan base, many new studios have ventured into the offline gaming market with this genre. Among them, some stand out much more than others, like Vindictus: Defying Fate, which caused a stir on the internet due to its bold decisions. Stellar Blade also had a similar start.
Stellar Blade is a game developed by Shift Up, the same company behind the popular third-person shooter action role-playing game Goddess of Victory: Nikke. So, when the trailer for Stellar Blade was first announced in 2022 featuring a female protagonist, many fans and netizens were eagerly anticipating the game's release. At first glance, you might think the game would have gameplay similar to Bayonetta, but surprisingly, Stellar Blade opts for a slower pace, more akin to Dark Souls and Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, where you have to dodge and counter carefully against enemies, instead of using fast and flashy combo attacks like in Bayonetta.
Currently, Stellar Blade is offering a free demo version to try out on PS5. You can jump in and give it a go if you're interested. As Hyung Tae Kim, the director of Stellar Blade, mentioned, the demo will put you right at the beginning of the game. You'll play as Eve, the 7th member of the Airborne team sent to the Planet Earth on a mission to reclaim it from Naytiba. The demo's duration will end when you reach the first boss encounter in the game, which serves as an introductory mission to familiarize yourself with the game's mechanics and gameplay. After finishing the demo, you'll be able to transfer your save data to the full game upon its release.
Stellar Blade is scheduled for release on April 26th. If you're interested in the game after trying the demo, make sure to use our price comparison tool to preorder Stellar Blade.
