Synduality Echo of Ada shares story trailer

Bandai Namco has released a story trailer for its upcoming PvPvE sci-fi game, Synduality: Echo of Ada. The trailer showcases the game's setting, recounting how, in the year 2222, humanity was nearly wiped out by an acid rain called Tears of the New Moon, which also led to the creation of deadly creatures known as Enders. Synduality: Echo of Ada will feature two gameplay modes: Online Sortie, a gameplay loop focused on scavenging and survival, and Solo Mode, which essentially functions as Story Mode.

The protagonist of the Story Mode is Alba, a Drifter and pilot of a CRADLECOFFIN—mechs humanity uses to gather resources and combat the Enders—and his relationship with Ada, a MAGUS AI that accompanies humans on their surface expeditions. Their goal is to supply the underground city of Amasia, humanity's last bastion. Along the way, Alba will discover video logs during his scavenging missions, revealing details about his and Ada's past and potentially shedding light on what truly happened to humanity.

Synduality: Echo of Ada Story Trailer

Synduality: Echo of Ada is set in 2222, twenty years before the anime Synduality: Noir, also produced by Bandai Namco. The protagonists of Synduality: Noir is pilot Kanata and the MAGUS Noir, though Alba appears as a secondary character. The franchise also includes a manga and light novel titled Synduality: Ellie and a recently serialized spinoff called Synduality: Kaleido, signaling that Bandai Namco is going all-in on this new sci-fi universe.

Early impressions of Synduality: Echo of Ada suggests that the Solo Mode gameplay is entirely PvE-focused and doesn't stray far from the online system. The main difference lies in finding video logs, which trigger cutscenes after completing a stage, but overall, it plays similarly to multiplayer, albeit on smaller and more condensed maps. Synduality's post-apocalyptic backdrop, combined with a multiplayer loop, bears similarities to another recently released game, Freedom Wars Remastered.

That's to say, Synduality: Echo of Ada is definitely centered around its PvPvE mode, where players must contend with both the planet's now-native dangers and other players. In the Garage, players can customize and modify their MAGUS and CRADLECOFFIN by purchasing new equipment or changing their appearance. The game will include a Battle Pass system, primarily offering cosmetic items. Additionally, a bounty hunting and player ranking system promises to spice up online play.

If you're a fan of PvPvE extraction shooters, don't miss Synduality: Echo of Ada. The game launches on January 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and January 25 for PC.
