A third installment of the System Shock series was announced during the Unity’s Game Developers Conference a few months ago. Warren Spector allowed us to take a look at a brief teaser of the game that is being developed by OtherSide Entertainment. We have been waiting to know a bit more about System Shock 3 since then but nothing else has been revealed so far. Nobody would have guessed that we would hear some news about System Shock 2 instead of the new one but Nightdive Studios has surprised all of us announcing on Twitter that they are working on an enhanced edition of the second title in the series.
You asked for it and we are working on it... System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition coming soon!!! ????#RetroGaming #SystemShock2 pic.twitter.com/vV5zBtUfWj

Nightdive Studios has not revealed anything yet on how they plan to enhance System Shock 2. We don´t know if they will release some kind of extra content, improved graphics or new features for the game but since the System Shock series have so many fans we can guess that they will be revealing a bit more in the following weeks. As a reminder, they were the ones in charge of bringing back the title in 2013 as you can see in the video below.
If System Shock 2 doesn't ring a bell for you we can tell you that it's an action role-playing adventure with survival-horror elements with a sci-fi background. It's a genre-defining title that inspired other masterpieces like Bioshock or Deus EX. In System Shock 2 you are one of the surviving members of the crews of the ships sent to the planet Tau Ceti V in response to a distress signal. What you found on the planet was some kind of strange parasites that infected, controlled and killed most of the crews. You wake up in the medical deck of the Von Braun and find yourself implanted with several kinds of cyberware. As you try to contact other survivors and avoid the infected, you will learn that there is a lot more than you expected behind the infection.
