Tactics Ogre: Reborn officially announced for PC and consoles

Tactics Ogre: Reborn officially announced for PC and consoles

Touted as the “crown jewel of the tactical role-playing genre,” the legendary Square Enix game Tactics Ogre gets a revamp as Tactics Ogre: Reborn, confirming months of rumors. We can expect high-definition graphical updates, particularly for the character designs and background, as well as updated music and a new user interface. The game launches on November 11 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Check out the announcement video here:

Per the official description:

"Tactics Ogre veterans will experience a game that surpasses their fondest memories, while players new to Tactics Ogre will discover a game unlike any they've ever played. Reborn and deeper than ever, the game enables players to immerse themselves in the world and intrigue of Tactics Ogre like never before."

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is indeed a “massively updated version” of the widely acclaimed 2010 edition Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. The 2022 version promises not just graphical updates but fully-voiced English and Japanese dialogue, remastered sound effects, and a whole soundtrack that has been re-recorded live by composer Hitoshi Sakimoto.

The game also features unit-by-unit leveling. Depending on their class, each character has a unique path of advancement. With this system, players can mix and match an endless array of skills, equipment, weapons, and magic and then decide which units to bring with them to each specific battlefield.

What’s more, enemy AI has been overhauled, meaning they can change tactics depending on the environment and the events of the battle. This should keep players on their toes and make for a compelling combat experience.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn releases on November 11. You can check out a Tactics Ogre: Reborn PC key with our comparator. It’s a bit of a wait till November, so a similar strategy game would be Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga, or Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark, both perfect to pass the time while we wait for the new game to be released.
