The Good Life Now Has a Release Date

The Good Life is a charming video game from Studio White Owls and SWERY (Hidetake Suehiro), director of The Last Blade, Deadly Premonition, and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die.  The game was supposed to have been released last summer but was delayed so that the development team could add “the last touches to the game.”

The Good Life began in 2017 as a crowdfunded project. After hitting its Kickstarter goal in 2018, it was slated for release in November 2019 but delayed for two years. Finally, though, we have a release date: October 15. Check out the English announcement trailer now.

Along with the new release date, SWERY has revealed that White Owls has teamed up with a new publisher (or an old one in this case): Playism, who published his 2014 game D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die.

The Good Life follows the story of American photojournalist Naomi Hayward, an out-of-luck 20-something from New York. To help with her massive debt, she takes a job from The Morning Bell newspaper to travel to the idyllic British town of Rainy Woods, dubbed “The World’s Happiest Town,” and investigate the mystery of its residents. Naomi gets more than she bargained for when she finds that the townsfolk transform into cats and dogs each night. It’s not long before she too is affected by this spell. What’s a shape-shifting journalist to do?

Using her new forms, Naomi must find out the secret behind Rainy Woods and its enchantments. She can also perform various sidequests, activities, and jobs to make money and help the town’s inhabitants. She can also do a lot of other fun stuff, like hang out in the pub, discover waystones in the countryside, and ride a sheep across town.

The Good Life will be available on PC and Nintendo Switch on October 15. Check out the best game prices for The Good Life.
