The Epic Games Store, developed and maintained by Epic Games, is a digital platform for distributing video games. It provides a carefully chosen assortment of games for PC and Mac, often featuring exclusive titles and substantial discounts.
Every Thursday, Epic Games offers a new game, or occasionally two, for gamers to download and add to their collections for free. Once redeemed, the game becomes the player's permanent property, to either play or add to an ever-growing backlog of games. This week, Epic Games is featuring two distinct games – TOEM, an adventure game, and The Last Stand: Aftermath, a zombie survival game, replacing last week's offerings, Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland and Super Crazy Rhythm Castle.
TOEM, an indie game released in 2021 by Something We Made, may initially seem unconventional with its monochromatic visuals. However, its hand-drawn landscapes provide a tranquil adventure as players step into the shoes of a photographer undertaking quests from local newspapers and other characters. There are no time constraints, allowing players to explore the meticulously crafted illustrations at their own pace.
In contrast, The Last Stand: Aftermath is a rogue-lite survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world where the main character becomes infected by a lethal virus. Players must combat hordes of zombies, gather resources, and craft items to survive. On Steam, this game has a very positive (81%) rating, while the reviews on Metacritic are mixed. So, if you prefer action-packed games, then this zombie-themed title will be a good addition to your library.
These games are available for free on the Epic Games Store from September 19th to September 26th, and once claimed, they belong to the user permanently. A new game will be offered for free next week. As always, remember to use our comparison tool to find the best deal on your next desired game.
