The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen version is almost here

The much anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen update is arriving next month. According to developer CD Projekt Red, we can expect the digital version for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC to arrive on December 14, 2022.

A fresh coat of paint

The next-gen update will feature “dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original," according to CDPR. Also included are “ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, as well as a variety of mods integrated into the experience, among many others." These enhancements were tailored to fit the capabilities of next-gen consoles and modern PCs.

The mods to be included will be revealed in the REDstreams event on Twitch next week. We do know however that the new content will include gear influenced by the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher as well as popular texture mods from The Witcher modding community.

The next-gen update was set for last year but was delayed twice. CDPR announced the release for the last quarter of this year and is finally coming through on their commitment. That said, this is only for the digital version of the game; the update for physical copies will be announced at a later time.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch owners won’t be left out in the cold, however. Apart from the next-gen release, CDPR will also provide a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt update with various improvements, updates, and new Netflix-themed content. The developers will announce the release date soon. We're also currently waiting on news regarding The Witcher 4 and The Witcher 1 remake.

The free next-gen update is a great reason to revisit The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has been named one of the greatest RPGs of all time. If you have yet to experience this phenomenal game, you can grab a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PS5 key from our comparator, just in time for the next-gen update.
