There are a lot of unsolved questions that need an answer when it comes to the new installment in the saga starring Geralt of Rivia. Without any doubt, the most important one is whether Geralt will be the protagonist of The Witcher 4 or not. There's been a lot of speculation around the Lynx medallion shown in the game's presentation, but the only thing confirmed to date is that it belongs to a new Witcher school that will appear in the game. CD Projekt Red has not disclosed yet if the new game will be starring Ciri instead of Geralt or not, though, but that does not mean that there is no news about the game.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that all things are finally in place and that the development of The Witcher 4 has entered its pre-production phase. According to the developer, the game was in a research phase until now, as revealed by CD Projekt Group CEO Adam Kicinski during a recent financial briefing.
"We have recently concluded the research phase for the first game in the new Witcher saga, which means that from now on further development expenditures will be capitalized on our balance sheet."
Also, CD Projekt Red chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz has talked about this matter in a video about the financial results of the company that you can watch below.
Although the words "research phase" and "pre-production phase" do not provide much information about the game, it's quite clear that the development of The Witcher 4 is moving forward, and we should be hearing more about it in the coming months. Far before the new game is ready, CD Projekt Red will launch the next-gen version of its predecessor. Remember that you can find The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cheap for all platforms with our comparator.
