Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be late

It's quite sad that after all the expectations generated by the reveal of the different clans and factions that will be present in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, we get to know that the game won't be released in the first quarter of 2020. Maybe it could be deemed as expected since no release date for the game was confirmed so far, but it's still a letdown for all the fans that are eagerly waiting to immerse themselves into the darkest night of Seattle with Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.

Even like that, it's quite easy to understand and agree with the reasons exposed by Andy Kipling and Brian Mitsoda from Handy Labs. The developers come up with several reasons in a blog post, and among those, the most important one is one that the people that played the previous game in the series will understand very well: they don't want to have the same mistakes and release the game before it's ready. That's something that anyone who played Bloodlines 1 would tell you. It's a great game, but it could have been much better with enough time.

On the flip side, there’s the responsibility to avoid some of the issues that plagued the first game, which was famously launched too early. Over the last few months, it became clear that to stick to our original date would risk repeating that mistake. We won’t do that. In the end, everyone working on this game wants to offer you the best Bloodlines 2 we can.

Whatever internal development reasons have led to this scenario don't really matter because, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that players get the Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 that best represents the World of Darkness universe. If we have to wait for a bit longer for that to happen, I would say that it's really worth it, but they better make sure that the final product can cope with the huge expectation that a game like this generates among the huge fan base of Vampire: The Masquerade.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is still coming to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in 2020, but later than expected. No official release date has been confirmed yet.
