Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled a new Assault map for Overwatch, the first new map since Busan which was released in September 2018. The map, known simply as Paris, is available right now on for PC players on Overwatch’s PTR. This will also be the first new Assault map since Horizon Lunar Colony, which Blizzard released in June 2017. Paris will be playable in quick play and competitive mode matches.
Paris is an Assault-style map, meaning teams either capture or defend a pair of points. The map features Cabaret Luna as a spawn point, lets you explore Maison Marat, fight on opposite banks of the Seine river in "narrow streets and corridors". There’s also a fully functional piano at Hotel Beau Ciel, which you can play by shooting the various keys. Fun, isn't it?

The patch on the PTR also features minor bug fixes and changes to how health, shields, and armor are consumed now. Non-recoverable health, shields, and armor will now be consumed before their recoverable counterparts. Previously, players needed to go through an entire category before moving onto the next one, so non-recoverable shields were always followed by recoverable shields, and so on. This priority change was made to prevent heroes’ recoverable shields from soaking up all damage and regenerating, leaving their non-recoverable armor intact. The new order ensures all non-recoverables are consumed before players take hits to their recoverable health, armor, or shields. Overwatch maps usually spend a few weeks on the PTR before they roll out for everyone else, but we think it will be ready for Valentine's day.
